5 Reasons Why You Should Start a Career in Solar Energy

The solar industry is experiencing rampant growth, and that means there are more jobs available in solar now than ever before. Whether you’re looking for your first job or thinking about making a career change, consider a career in solar energy! Here are five reasons why starting a career in solar energy is a good move:

1. There Are Positions Across Many Fields

When you think about solar careers, you probably think about rooftop solar installers. And while becoming a solar installer is an excellent career choice, it isn’t the only option if you want to work in solar energy. There are many different positions available in the solar industry, from electricians and engineers to sales and marketing professionals, solar site auditors, customer service experts, and so much more!

2. You’ll Feel Good About What You Do

Working in the solar industry means actively fighting climate change and contributing to a more sustainable future. When you start a career in solar, you’ll be able to feel good about what you do for a living and enjoy a sense of fulfillment knowing that you’re making a difference.

3. There Is Plenty of Room to Grow

The solar industry is continuously expanding, and that means there is plenty of opportunity for career growth. According to the National Solar Job Census, solar jobs in the United States will need to exceed 900,000 by 2035 in order to reach the country’s 100% clean electricity goal. With solar power and solar batteries in such high demand, there are a lot of open positions in the solar workforce with huge potential for job growth.

4. You Can Make Great Money Working in Solar

Solar jobs offer competitive wages, often with higher salaries compared to similar roles in different industries. You’re also likely to see salary increases as you gain experience and expand your skill set.

5. Solar Energy Isn’t Going Away

If you’re looking for a stable career, working in solar is a great option. Solar energy isn’t going away and the industry is only expecting to grow. This means you won’t have to worry about widespread layoffs due to job outsourcing or obsoletion, and you can rest easy knowing that your profession will be around for a long time.
