Monoosnoc Trail

Location: Sterling, MA

Length: 9.2 miles 

Difficulty: Moderate
 

One of the best hikes in Central Massachusetts, the Monoosnoc Trail is a 9.2-mile loop through the woods that features a beautiful lake. Dogs are welcome on this trail, as long as they’re kept on a lease, so grab your pup, fill up a water bottle, and head to Sterling to enjoy a nature-filled day on the Monoosnoc Trail. 

Western Greenway to Hemlock Trail 

Location: Belmont, MA

Length: 10 miles 

Difficulty: Moderate 

If you’re looking for the best hikes near Boston, this woodsy nature trail is for you! Part of the Rock Meadow Conservation Area, the Western Greenway to Hemlock Trail is located just outside of Boston and offers a refreshing escape from the city on a hot summer day. 

Two Bridges and Chapel Falls Trail 

Location: Ashfield, MA

Length: 4.1 miles 

Difficulty: Moderate 

The Two Bridges and Chapel Falls Trail is one of the best waterfall hikes in Massachusetts. This 4-mile trail takes you through a relatively flat, woodsy setting and ends at a cascading waterfall. Pack a picnic and enjoy a leisurely break while relaxing by the falls before heading out. 

Mahican-Mohawk Trail to Indian Trail Loop

Location: Rowe, MA

Length: 4.7 miles 

Difficulty: Hard 

Looking for scenic places in Western Massachusetts? The historic Mahican-Mohawk Trail to Indian Trail Loop is hard to beat. This gorgeous, adventurous loop is just under 5 miles long and will give you a great workout while you enjoy a day out in nature.
