That’s by design: it’s a federal safety rule called anti-islanding, so your system doesn’t send power onto the lines while Eversource and National Grid crews are repairing them. What the incentives add up to in 2026
The math is better here than in most of the country.
Power in Massachusetts runs about 30 to 31 cents a kWh, among the highest in the country. That’s the main reason a battery pays back faster here than in most states.

We quote the conservative end on purpose. ConnectedSolutions has historically paid more than $1,000, but we’d rather under-promise and let the number surprise you the right way. The state tax credit is one-time per home over your ownership, so if you’ve already claimed it, your real incentive stack is ConnectedSolutions and the SMART adder.
